Is Physio Covered By NDIS?

Posted on: Nov 21st, 2022 by adminva | Categories: NDIS

Physiotherapy can be a beneficial form of therapy for many reasons such as improving pain, increasing mobility, and preventing injuries. When seeking health care though, the bills can mount up. Thankfully, there are funding routes you may be able to take to enable you to gain the help you require. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is one such option.

When you are a participant of the NDIS, there is the opportunity to have financial support for physio as it is one of the covered allied health therapies. Eligibility is based on a few criteria, which we can help you to understand.

At The Physio Movement, we are proud to be a NDIS Townsville provider. Our experienced and friendly physiotherapists will help you get the most out of your NDIS plan when you book an appointment at our multidisciplinary clinic.

What Is the NDIS?

The goal of the National Disability Insurance Scheme is to provide eligible people with assistance to reduce financial stress and increase access to opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach. The NDIS also helps to connect people with disabilities to community services and clubs and provides guidance on opportunities that are available. Ultimately, the NDIS is there to help eligible people with disabilities have more independence, improved health care, and a better quality of life.

Am I Eligible For NDIS Support For Physio?

The NDIS covers physiotherapy for eligible people with disabilities. The criteria are based on your needs and goals that directly link to your disability. Assessment requires suitable supporting documentation through an application process. If you are approved to have physio as part of your plan, it will be part of either the core support or capacity building support categories.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) needs to assess an evidence-based report from a physiotherapist that is relevant to your requirements and explains how physiotherapy will assist you to achieve your target outcomes in twelve months. This includes details about how your diagnosis impacts you, any previous strategies that have been put in place, how and why physio can help you, and how many hours will be required.

How Can NDIS Physio Help You?

To gain the benefits of the NDIS support, you must receive physio care from a registered provider. At The Physio Movement, we offer large private treatment rooms and purpose-built rehabilitation gym where we can work one-on-one with you as an NDIS registered provider to help you achieve your goals. We also facilitate home visits when necessary.
