What is Strength and Conditioning? The Physio Movement Townsville

Posted on: Aug 21st, 2020 by thephysiomovement | Categories: Sports Medicine & Nutrition

Strength and conditioning training at its simplest form is the practical application of sports science to enhance movement quality. S + C is grounded in evidence-based research and physiology of exercise and anatomy.

At The Physio Movement, we focus on preventing injury and developing better movement patterns to help athletes and patients  accelerate their career progression and performance.

What are the benefits of strength and conditioning training?

Whether you are beginning your fitness journey, trying to stay fit, a recreational sportsperson or an elite athlete, you will benefit from strength and conditioning training at TPM Townsville. Our strength and conditioning training and programming will help with your speed, agility, flexibility, and power which is specific to your sport or activity. S + C programming and training will also help decrease niggling injuries by improving muscular strength with good technique.

Our Strength and Conditioning coaches are Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists with additional accreditation in Strength and Conditioning coaching. The benefits of a good strength and conditioning programme will change for every individual, depending on their abilities and goals. Here are some of our top reasons for Strength and Conditioning training:

  1. Injury Prevention
  2. Enhanced general health
  3. Improve performance
  4. Improve mood
  5. Improve posture
  6. Faster recovery after injury
  7. Increase muscle mass

How can The Physio movement help your Strength and Conditioning training?

  1. We begin with an hour long appointment where you will go through your history, injuries (if any) and then develop a personalised training schedule specific to your goals or competition calendar with one of our coaches.
  2. Your coach will assess movement techniques which you need for your sport or activity.
  3. We will then progress into developing the required muscle  strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness, reflecting your goals.
  4. We will then work on developing sports or activity specific movements; balance, coordination, agility, power and speed.

Townsville Strength and Conditioning options are flexible and can be programmed and performed 1 on 1, in small group settings, or as a part of our youth performance program.
