Our Top 3 Reasons why Telehealth is the way Forward

At TPM we have always strived to break the “norm” of allied healthcare delivery. For so long, separate professions were unable to co-exist – we are proud to have created a place where Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Exercise Physiologists and Massage Therapists can work together to provide multi-disciplinary treatment for the best outcomes for our valued patients.

With the ongoing situation surrounding COVID-19, we have had to remain fluid and moving with the situation to remain current and “essential”. Our patients’ care is important to us and injuries don’t stop during this time. Therefore, we have begun providing Telehealth services and Digital Group Classes to ensure that our TPM Patients’ can still access our same outstanding healthcare services from the comfort of their home.

Tele-Rehabilitation is the use of telecommunication techniques (via Phone or Computer) for the purpose of providing Physiotherapy diagnosis, Physiotherapy education, and health education over a distance.
Our therapists can communicate with our patients to continue with their ongoing rehab, or to help diagnose and treat new injuries. We use a program called Physitrack, which allows us to video call our patients, conduct a one on one appointment, demonstrate required rehabilitation and exercises and also receive the education you need to self-manage your injuries.

In this uncertain time, we have put together our

Top 3 reasons for why Telehealth is the way forward for Physiotherapy

1. Increased focus on self-management

If we are solely reliant on our practitioners to manage our injuries, it becomes more difficult for us to self-manage when symptoms may re-present, or when returning to sport to reduce reliance on the practitioner. Self-management is an important part of the end stage of rehabilitation in return to sport, but also in the early phases, to ensure that there are processes in place for flare-ups or if there is uncertainty with the injury.

2. We can still provide feedback on your technique and exercises over video call

Using Physitrack, we are able to drag videos which we have taken ourselves with appropriate feedback into the appointment, and provide cueing while this exercise is happening. This way you are still able to perform the exercise in the way we are looking for, and ask us any questions that may arise.

3. You can access us from literally anywhere!

Be it in isolation, rural or remote, or a returning patient who has relocated towns,  we can provide our services to you.
In the past week we have assisted clients from our local Townsville area, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Northern NSW – the TPM reach is far and wide!

We are looking forward to this next phase of growth at TPM as we deliver our same quality healthcare services via face-to-face digital appointments.
We support the idea of staying at home, keeping you and your family safe at this time of uncertainty.
