Scott Naughton – Exercise Physiologist

Scott grew up with four older brothers in Charters Towers so has always enjoyed the competitive nature of sport ranging from backyard cricket to inline hockey and everything in between. His love of sport and exercise is what motivated him to undertake his Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science at James Cook University in 2008. After finishing Sport and Exercise Science in 2010 Scott worked within the sport and recreation field in McKinlay and Charters Towers regions. These roles involved mostly community-based exercise delivery to all ages as well as school based physical education delivery.

In 2015 Scott made the decision to return to university to complete the additional year on his Bachelor of Exercise Physiology (Clinical) at James Cook University. Scott has been working in private sector since the end of 2014 gaining experience in Personal Training and group fitness initially while completing his degree. Following his second graduation, Scott was offered a role as Clinic Manager and Senior Exercise Physiologist within a performance/exercise physiology gym as well as a trainer and assessor for certificate 3 & 4 in fitness with a registered training organisation.

Scott has a passion for strength and conditioning and its application to improving performance in both chronic disease/injured and general populations. Scott is a firm believer in keeping it simple in his approach to exercise programming and coaching regardless of what population you are dealing with mastering the basic movements first is going to be the best approach. Outside of work Scott enjoys completing his own strength training and getting his cardio through playing soccer in the local competition. Scott also enjoys watching movies and listening to music and has a head full of useless facts on both to dish out if the situation calls for it.
